udev

Ok, so I finally got back into X Windows. Basically what happened is that the file /dev/mouse is a symbolic link to /dev/misc/psaux atleast it is for my usb mouse. I recompiled the kernel witout devfs support and therefore it didn't create the /dev/mouse sym link and udev doesn't create that link.

So I had to recompile the kernel, but all i did was make another entry in grub and install another kernel with /dev support so I could check where the symlink was to.

I edited the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and changed changed /dev/mouse to /dev/misc/psaux. X started up fine.

Alsa doesn't seem to be working now however. Time to reinstall the drivers for that.......
